Why should blacks be silent

it seems to me that blacks are being silent about the issues we care about while all the other races are going about getting theirs, if you look at the renewed attacks on "black power" you can see that the folks that hate our people are busy. Where are the voices of change for us? Rev. Al is getting old and Jess Jackson is not effective. who are the new leaders of black America? why are they so silent? i have to depend on Kieth Olbermann and the rest of the MSNBC folks to speak for my point of view. all the black leaders i think are trying not to upste white folks so Barrack can have a better chance of making it in the White House. if this not the case then why are we so quiet about our pain? Obama can take care of his dreams while we are still living the American nightmaire.

Why America Needs the Underground Railroad reopened

The experts and intellectuals have already layed out the many facts surrounding Black Americas problems and issues. I am not an expert nor am I an intellectual but I am a Black Man in America. I personally have suffered and enjoyed being in this country. My battles with society have been monumental. I have for the past three decades seriously tried to understand why it is such a struggle to find the elusive American Dream. I often ask myself the question, where is my house, where is my good credit, where is my beautiful car. At different times in my life I have had all three but have never been able to maintain these things long enough to actually taste and enjoy their sweetness. For anyone to really feel blessed and free in this country obtaining and maintaining the "American Dream" is a must.

I want to make the argument that there are unseen forces in America that do not want me to have the American Dream. So I ask the question is this just an excuse for my personal failure or is it real. Are these forces that I believe exist really out there and if so where are they. Is it the district attorney that stacks a jury with people who are not your peers. Or is it the judge who influences the court room with god like power that results in high rates of conviction because the jury wants to be a friend of the court. Or is it the court appointed attorney whose only concern is to receive his or her state fee and not only provide inadequate representation but deliberately in most cases sand bag his clients case. Who are these unseen forces? Is it the clerk that sends out subpoenas to areas of a particular county that are more inclined to convict someone that is not of their race. Is it the citizen who answers the call for jury duty and hides the fact that he or she may have personal issues that would almost ensure a black mans conviction. Is it the politician black or white who promises that they would represent all people but only allocate resources to those who vote and donate money. Which automatically excludes poor blacks such as myself. Is it the powerful correctional officers union who donates tens of thousands of dollars to state officials and demand the building of more prisons, higher pay, and long term job security at the expense of those who are to be housed in their institutions. Who are these unseen forces? Is it the school teacher that refuses to give quality instruction to those children that are not of their own kind. Is it the black leader who promises to fight for his people but yet turns a blind eye to the many injustices and corruption that are put upon his people in everyday life in return for his personal gain. Who are these unseen forces? Why is it that black police officers, black judges, black lawyers, black teachers, and black district attorney's once in position close their eyes and hold their noses and allow the same type of institutionalized discrimination to exist unchallenged.

With these questions raised I'm asking for someone who is educated and has the expertise and historical knowledge to provide me with the answer to the questions raised. After 20yrs of close personal empirical research I have not yet been able to declare myself an expert nor educated thus I am at a lost when it comes to solving these problems as well as answering these questions. I am now 45 years of age married with 4 children that I have successfully raised in spite of my own stupidity. I must admit that America has provided me with many opportunities to live free and to prosper. The overwhelming majority of my problems and failures are self inflicted mistakes that I live with and regret each day that my lord opens my eyes. I did not have a father, my mother was not rich, my sisters were not good role models. Nor were the men that called themselves their boyfriends & lovers. So who is to blame? When I think of all these things it makes my head hurt and as I have often done it makes me want to just sit down and cry the confusion and pain is so great. I do know this that there are good white people in America. The original Underground Railroad would not have been if this were not true. I also know from personal experience that the majority of people I have met who are charged and convicted of crimes are guilty as I have been. It's the small minority of innocent people that suffer the most. It's that one crime that I did not commit and was sent to prison for that hurts the most.

America we are at a crossroads! Do we continue to pay $50k a year to incarcerate a person breaking ourselves with high taxes to do so just for the sake of keeping the playing field for the American dream unbalanced. Or do we as a people identify the unseen forces and demand a change. The front line of this war is not political, voting is good but it is not where the battle is. Where we need to focus our energy and resources are in the courts. America will benefit as well as black people in America if this monster of a criminal justice system is changed from it's present condition to something that is truly fair and balanced. Lady justice I believe often sneaks a peak from under the blind fold. This is where the battle must be fought in my humble opinion.
